Lanterns Unmasks Zoe as the Manhunter in Episode 5 'Lights Out'

The Manhunter was Zoe Macon all along.
Lanterns confirmed the twist in Episode 5, titled "Lights Out," which is now streaming on HBO Max, according to Variety. The reveal answers the central mystery of the HBO series. It changes everything for the people caught around her.
Zoe is played by Poorna Jagannathan, previously seen in Never Have I Ever. The core cast around her includes Aaron Pierre as John, Kyle Chandler as Hal and Kelly Macdonald as Sheriff Kerry. Garret Dillahunt plays Will Macon and Paul Ben-Victor plays Antaan.
Jagannathan told Variety she did not know Zoe was the Manhunter until she received the script for Episode 4. The interview was conducted with co-creator Chris Mundy about the reveal. Episode 5 was directed by Geeta Patel.
The confrontation lands hard. John tells Zoe he knows the Guardians created the Manhunters. Zoe offers to heal his injuries if he lets Hal die and tells the Guardians that all is well.
That choice is tangled up in their personal history. John has had an affair with Zoe, as noted in Variety's earlier review. Zoe is identified as William's wife. The creature itself had been hiding in plain sight, disguised among cornfields.
For viewers, this means the mystery now becomes a standoff. Two Lanterns know the truth. Only one of them may leave the room to report it.
Lanterns premieres on HBO and streams on HBO Max. It comes from Warner Bros. TV, HBO and DC Studios. New episodes are released every Sunday night through early October, according to Deadline.
