Yasmeen Fletcher, Sydney Agudong and Billy Burke will lead Chic, an independent dramedy now filming in Hawaii, as reported by Deadline on 14 September 2026.

The film is written and directed by Christopher Yates. Independent here means made outside the major studios. Dramedy means it blends drama and comedy.

Fletcher plays Remi, a 23-year-old divorcée who leaves her old life behind and travels to O'ahu to start again. It is the central role. The island setting is baked into the story.

The wider ensemble adds Kahiau Machado, Madison Abe-Revera, Mackinlee Waddell and Cooper Roth, according to Deadline. Agudong is known to wider audiences from Disney's live-action Lilo & Stitch. Burke is a veteran of the Twilight films.

What makes this stand out is the reunion behind it. Chic is the second project for Yates and Fletcher after the 2024 romantic drama American Spirit. Fletcher also steps up as a producer for the first time on a feature.

She produces alongside Yates and Sabrina Zahir through Fridge Poet Pictures. Financial backing comes from C1C2 and Half of a Whole Productions. Zayd Ezzeldine serves as director of photography, in charge of the film's camera and lighting look.

Production was based on O'ahu and was due to wrap in the first half of September. Fridge Poet Pictures was also casting background actors for selected scenes, according to a listing on Backstage. No release date has been announced.
