How to Watch the 2026 Emmys: Time, Stream, Red Carpet and Frontrunner The Pitt

The 78th Emmy Awards take over Monday, Sept. 14, with The Pitt leading the nominations race and Mariska Hargitay taking centre stage as host.

The ceremony airs live coast-to-coast from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles at L.A. LIVE. It starts at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT on NBC, according to Variety. The Television Academy lists the telecast as a black-tie event on the same date.

Peacock will livestream the full ceremony alongside the NBC broadcast. The livestream begins at 8/7c, Peacock reports. Both of its plans carry the night live. Premium costs $12.99 per month and Premium Plus costs $19.99 per month.

No cable? No problem. Hulu + Live TV, DirecTV, Fubo and Sling TV all offer ways to watch NBC online for the Emmys. If you miss the live slot, the 78th Emmy Awards will be available on demand on Peacock, according to the Television Academy.

Coverage starts well before the first trophy. “CNN & Variety Red Carpet Live: TV’s Biggest Night” begins at 5 p.m. ET on CNN.com/Watch and the CNN app. Elizabeth Wagmeister and Ramin Setoodeh host the special, with Melissa Rivers joining for fashion coverage.

Hargitay is an Emmy winner herself. Her appointment carries history. She is the first woman to solo-host the Emmys since Jane Lynch in 2011.

The Pitt enters the night as the show to beat. It holds 25 nominations, the most of any series this year. The double bill formerly known as the Creative Arts Emmys leads into the televised Primetime Emmys on September 14, Deadline notes.

For newcomers, the Emmys are peer prizes. The Primetime Emmy Award stands for recognition from nearly 24,000 Television Academy members, with each member voting in their own field of expertise, the Television Academy says.
