Celine Dion moved into Mike Amiri's Paris building and turned the street into a choir.

About 350 people gathered outside to sing until 1 a.m. or 2 a.m., the American designer said. He was not complaining.

Amiri described the late-night serenade during a public conversation in France, WWD reported on 14 September 2026. He had moved to Paris with his family only three weeks earlier.

The talk was part of Rencontres de Faverolles — Forum de la Mode, the annual gathering for alumni of the Institut Français de la Mode, the Paris fashion school. The school is marking its 40th anniversary in 2026. Around 400 former students and industry professionals attended this year's edition at Domaine des Oseraies.

That venue is the countryside home of Didier Grumbach, former head of the French fashion federation, and his sister Sylvie Grumbach, founder of Paris public-relations agency 2e Bureau. Amiri appeared in conversation with Pascal Morand, executive president of the Fédération de la Mode et de la Haute Couture, the body that organises Paris Fashion Week and controls who may use the couture label.

Amiri told the audience he started his brand in a basement in Hollywood. Early clients included singers Axl Rose and Mick Jagger. He showed at Paris Fashion Week for the first time in 2018.

The business has grown fast since then. Amiri said the brand now operates 31 stores worldwide, with revenue set to exceed USD 300 million in 2026. In 2019, OTB Group, the Italian fashion group founded by Renzo Rosso, took a minority stake in the label.

Dion is also in the middle of a Paris comeback. She is returning to the stage with a residency at Paris La Défense Arena, the large concert and sports venue west of the capital. That explains the crowd outside Amiri's building.

For fans, this means two arrivals at once. One pop star is back on a Paris stage. One Los Angeles designer is learning what Paris sounds like after midnight.
