Industry to end with Season 5 as Ben Platt and Russell Tovey join cast
Industry is closing its books. The HBO and BBC drama about London banking will end with its fifth season, which is now in production with Ben Platt and Russell Tovey joining the cast, Deadline reported on 14 September 2026.
Platt will play Matt Crenshaw, a venture capitalist, meaning an investor who backs young companies, and an early supporter of a wellness-tech business at the centre of the new season. That company is run by Carmen Dame, played by Zosia Mamet, a fitness influencer turned founder and chief executive. Dianna Agron plays Skip Binsky, the company's chief financial officer, the executive in charge of its money.
Tovey will play Declan P. Davis, deputy to a left-wing politician named Nikesh Shah. Shah will be played by Bally Gill. The political storyline sits alongside the finance plot, giving the final season two new worlds to explore.
Two familiar faces join in business roles. Cary Elwes plays an investor, while Sam Riley plays an elusive British businessman. Jessica Brown Findlay also joins as a family friend of Sir Henry Muck, a long-running character.
Several other newcomers fill out the trading floor and its orbit. Luke Manley plays an execution trader, who carries out buy and sell orders for clients, and Eduard Poliakov plays a trader, according to the same report.
The returning ensemble is large. Season 5 brings back Myha'la, Marisa Abela, Kit Harington, Ken Leung, Max Minghella, Miriam Petche, Sagar Radia and Toheeb Jimoh, Variety reported. Charlie Heaton, Amy James-Kelly, Roger Barclay, Andrew Havill, Kiernan Shipka, Kal Penn, Jack Farthing, Stephen Campbell Moore, Claire Forlani and Edward Holcroft also return.
The series was created, written and executive produced by Mickey Down and Konrad Kay, meaning they oversee the show creatively and commercially. It is a Bad Wolf production for HBO and the BBC, with Jane Tranter, Kate Crowther and Ryan Rasmussen as executive producers for Bad Wolf, Kathleen McCaffrey for Little Gems and Rebecca Ferguson for the BBC. Writers include Down, Kay and Joseph Charlton.
