The Pitt Heads Into Emmy Night With 25 Nominations
HBO's medical drama The Pitt goes into Monday evening's Emmy Awards with 25 nominations, more than any other show this year.
The series won best drama last year after 13 nominations, so it arrives as the defending champion. Noah Wyle is nominated again for lead actor in a drama for his role, according to the live nominations count from Variety.
The 78th Emmy Awards are scheduled for September 14, 2026, with Mariska Hargitay hosting. Winners are being published as they are announced on Monday night.
HBO has the other heavyweight as well. Comedy Hacks earned 24 nominations for its final season, meaning its last run of episodes. That breaks the all-time comedy record of 23 nominations shared by The Bear and The Studio. Jean Smart is nominated for lead actress in a comedy for Hacks.
Apple TV is chasing with two titles. Widow's Bay has 19 nominations including outstanding comedy, with Matthew Rhys nominated for lead actor in a comedy. Pluribus has 18 nominations including best drama, with Rhea Seehorn nominated for lead actress in a drama.
In limited or anthology series, a short closed-ended story told in one season, Netflix's Beef leads with 16 nominations. Oscar Isaac is nominated for lead actor and Carey Mulligan for lead actress for the show.
Some trophies have already been handed out. The Creative Arts Emmys, which honour craft and guest acting, were organised over two nights ahead of the main ceremony. Winners included Rob Reiner, Betty Gilpin, Linda Cardellini, David Harbour, Shailene Woodley and Ernest Harden Jr., as listed by Gold Derby.
Hargitay will host having already won this season. She took two Creative Arts awards for My Mom Jayne, for best documentary and for directing, according to Deadline.
For fans, this means a tight night across three lanes. The Pitt tries to repeat in drama, Hacks bids farewell in comedy with a record tally, and Beef tests whether a second story can repeat its earlier awards run.
