Tribeca Triple-Winner 'Labrador – Autopsy of Silence' Sells to TLA Releasing
TLA Releasing has bought the United States and U.K. rights to Labrador – Autopsy of Silence, the Canadian film that left the Tribeca Festival with three awards.
The deal was reported by Variety on 14 September. It followed the film's world premiere at Tribeca, where distribution rights, the permission to put a film into cinemas and on to other platforms in a given territory, were on the table.
The sale was handled by H264. The company is also the film's Canadian home. It plans a theatre release in Canada in winter 2027. The film was produced by Patricia Bergeron, Cédric Bourdeau and director Rodrigue Jean for Transmar Films.
Three prizes. Two territories. One deal. At Tribeca, Labrador – Autopsy of Silence won best international narrative feature, the festival's top prize for a fictional film from outside the United States. Mathieu Laverdière won best cinematography for the film. Christopher Angatookalook won best performance in an international narrative feature.
The story centres on Alupa Tulugak, an Inuk mechanic, according to Tribeca's film page. Its synopsis describes a murder aboard a freighter. That listing is carried on the festival site, which also hosted an Award Screening for the film as its best international narrative feature winner.
The film had played in the International Narrative Competition at the 2026 Tribeca Festival, the festival announced in June. It finished the festival with three awards apiece alongside Jail Time Records, ScreenDaily reported at the time.
For viewers in the United States and Britain, this deal sets the path to screens. TLA Releasing now controls the U.S. and U.K. release. H264 holds Canada, with that winter 2027 theatre date already in place.
