Lana Del Rey and Zach Bryan finish song together

Lana Del Rey and Zach Bryan have finished their first song together.
Del Rey shared the news on Sunday, Sept. 13, in an Instagram carousel post documenting what appears to be a recent recording session in Massachusetts, as reported by Billboard. She gave no release date. She did not name the track.
The post opens with video of Bryan walking through a studio space decorated with whale paintings. It also includes a selfie of Del Rey with Bryan and her husband, Jeremy Dufrene.
Del Rey captioned the post, “Whale, we finally got our song done. And that’s no Lie,” with capitalisation of Lie suggesting a possible title clue. She did not officially confirm a title. In the same caption she thanked Bryan, Sam and Shelby for travelling to Massachusetts to work on “bring back Mother whale and moonlight roll on.”
Some of the paintings in the studio bear the words “Roll on, thou deep and dark blue Ocean,” a line from Lord Byron’s Childe Harold’s Pilgrimage. Del Rey also thanked Melinda and Doug for helping her and Bryan make something “that our fam is gonna treasure forever.”
Melinda and Doug Kirkpatrick are Massachusetts-based artists behind Flowerness Farm, a creative and agricultural project. Their involvement points to where the session took place. Del Rey did not share further details about the recording setup or who else played on the song.
The collaboration arrives while Del Rey is developing a country-leaning album titled Stove. She has been teasing the project, then titled Lasso, since January 2024. Earlier in the summer she said the album had been finalised for some time while she was working on a companion project.
Bryan and Del Rey have circled each other’s work for a while. Bryan previously shared an acoustic cover of Del Rey’s “Video Games.” Both headlined Alabama’s Hangout Music Festival in 2024 and appeared at Stagecoach the following year.
For fans, this means a wait for the basics. There is a finished song, a studio location and plenty of whale imagery, but no title, no sound clip and no release plan yet.
