Ms. Pat Expands Paramount Deal as VH1 Orders Comedy Contest and BET Renews Courtroom Show
Ms. Pat will front a new VH1 comedy contest while her BET courtroom show lives on for a fourth season under an expanded Paramount deal.
Patricia "Ms. Pat" Williams-Lee has widened her relationship with Paramount through a new agreement with BET Studios, according to Deadline. The pact spans producing, writing and performing across BET and Paramount platforms. In plain terms, she will make shows as well as star in them.
The new order is America's Funniest People. VH1 has commissioned the series from V10 Entertainment. V10 is the production company behind America's Funniest Videos. The new show is a comedy competition series starring Ms. Pat, in which content creators compete head-to-head for a cash prize.
The credits are already set. Ms. Pat serves as executive producer alongside John Stevens, Carter Skeath and Rick De Oliveira. An executive producer oversees the creative direction and business of a series. Saterah Moore is co-executive producer, a rank that usually handles day-to-day creative decisions.
On BET, Ms. Pat Settles It has been renewed for a fourth season. A renewal means the channel has ordered another run of episodes. The series comes from 495 Productions and features Ms. Pat presiding over real-life cases with a jury of friends, celebrity guests and fellow comedians.
That show is executive produced by Ms. Pat, SallyAnn Salsano and Ebony McClain for 495 Productions. On the Paramount side, Laurel Weir is Head of Programming and Acquisitions for Paramount Media Networks.
For fans, this means one familiar favourite stays put and a new one is on the way. Ms. Pat Settles It has built steadily over three years. It first premiered on BET on 18 October at 10 p.m. ET/PT, as reported by Deadline, with Season 2 following on 31 July at the same hour. Part two of Season 3 arrived on 30 June, according to Variety, and the series later aired at 9/8c.
Short cases. Quick jokes. Now a straight contest alongside them. Ms. Pat's slate is getting bigger, and viewers will not have to wait long to see where each show lands.
