Dan Levy to Honour Catherine O'Hara at the 78th Emmy Awards

Dan Levy will honour his late Schitt's Creek co-star Catherine O'Hara at the 78th Emmy Awards. He called the moment very bittersweet and surreal to think about.

Levy spoke on the red carpet during NBC's official preshow on TikTok. He made the remarks to hosts Trisha Paytas and Nicky Campbell, according to The Hollywood Reporter. O'Hara died in January at age 71.

Levy and Annie Murphy were announced as presenters at this year's ceremony. The pairing reunites television's Rose children with a tribute to their on-screen mother. It is a small roster change with a large personal weight.

O'Hara played Moira Rose for six seasons on Schitt's Creek. Moira was mother to David, played by Levy, and Alexis, played by Murphy. The series was co-created by Dan Levy and Eugene Levy, according to Deadline.

O'Hara won an Emmy Award and a Golden Globe for the role. The series won a total of nine Emmys during its run. Eugene Levy, Dan Levy, O'Hara and Murphy accepted remotely from a socially distanced cast and crew gathering in Canada, according to the Television Academy.

The 78th Emmy Awards are hosted by Mariska Hargitay. The ceremony aired live from the Peacock Theater on Sept. 14 at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT on NBC and Peacock. Reba McEntire was tapped to perform a special tribute to Dolly Parton, who died at age 80. Noah Kahan will perform during the In Memoriam segment, the part of the broadcast that remembers industry figures who have died.

The tribute follows another Schitt's Creek reunion at the Emmys. Dan Levy and Eugene Levy served as hosts of the 2024 Emmy Awards. Levy, Eugene Levy, O'Hara and Murphy reunited on stage during that broadcast, according to People.
