MTV Finland orders six-part thriller Dangerous Woman with German, Swedish partners
MTV Finland has ordered Dangerous Woman, a six-part psycho-thriller from Gutsy Pictures.
The greenlight, meaning the broadcaster has formally approved the series for production, was reported by Variety on Sept. 15. The company is headed by Marika Makaroff, who created the series. The order covers six episodes.
Two more companies have joined to get it made. Zeitsprung in Germany and Götafilm in Sweden are attached as co-producers, meaning they share costs, crew and filming responsibilities across countries. TV4 in Sweden has pre-bought the series, meaning it has agreed in advance to air it in Sweden. That kind of early sale helps pay for production.
The leading creative roles are filled. Makaroff is the creator, the writer-producer who originated the idea and steers the story. Zaida Bergroth will direct, overseeing performance and the look of the series on set. BAFTA winner Kevin Rundle has joined the key creatives, reuniting with Gutsy Pictures after working with the company on L/Over.
Cameras are expected to roll later this year. No air date has been announced yet. That is normal. A greenlight starts hiring, casting and scheduling before a channel locks a slot. Production later this year means locations, schedules and final casting will now be locked in.
The project is also heading to the market circuit. It is one of 11 international premium dramas selected for the Mind the Gap co-production pitch showcase, hosted by Serielizados Pro on Oct. 21-24. A pitch showcase is a live presentation where producers present upcoming series to potential buyers and partners. Selection puts the title in front of broadcasters and streamers looking for new drama.
The story is being kept tight for now. According to an earlier post from Gutsy Pictures, Dangerous Woman centres on a middle-aged woman at the peak of her career who violently attacks a man. The same post notes the project was selected for TV Drama Vision, a forum where new drama projects are presented to industry buyers.
For viewers, the next steps are simple. Production first. Then a broadcast plan from MTV Finland and TV4 in Sweden, with other sales still to come. Further casting and transmission details have not yet been disclosed.
