WoW Devs Say Paladin Is a Dad Class Ahead of Forever Launch

Paladins are a dad class in World of Warcraft. Senior game designer Josh Greenfield gave that ruling at BlizzCon, in a joint interview with senior art director Jeff Parrott.
The question was simple: what are your favourite and most-played classes? Greenfield did not pause. He said the Paladin is "certainly" a dad class, in an interview published on 15 September GameSpot.
He backed it with personal credentials. Greenfield said he is not a dad, but described himself as a dog dad with a dad bod. Paladin is totally a dad class, he added.
Parrott picked a different path. He named the Hunter as both his favourite and his most-played class.
For readers meeting this world for the first time, a quick guide helps. World of Warcraft is Blizzard's long-running online fantasy game, where players adventure together in a shared world. A class is a character type with its own abilities and role in a group.
Paladins are armoured protectors who block damage and heal allies. Hunters strike from a distance and fight beside a tamed animal companion.
What makes the dad-class tag stick is easy to picture. In gaming slang, a dad class is the steady pick: durable, protective and built to look after the group. That description suits the Paladin well.
BlizzCon is Blizzard's own fan convention, where developers meet players and press. This interview fits that mould: funny, low stakes and easy to argue about on the way home.
The timing matters for players. World of Warcraft Forever launches on 4 November. Its playable beta, an early test version open to players before full release, goes live on 17 September.
For fans, this means bragging rights. Paladin players can claim official dad status, while Hunter players can point to support from the art team. What makes this stand out is the tone: no announcement, no patch notes, just two makers talking about how they like to play. It is the kind of quote that travels fast among friends.
Short. Warm. Human.
