WoW Forever Beta Opens 17 September Ahead of November Launch
World of Warcraft Forever opens its beta on 17 September for a five-week test that ends on 21 October, ahead of release on 4 November. The dates give players a clear runway into the new version of Blizzard’s long-running online fantasy game GameSpot.
There are two ways in. The only guaranteed route is to pre-order one of two paid packs. The Skyborne Epic Pack costs US$59.99 / £51.99 and the Warcraft Forever Collection costs US$79.99 / £69.99, and both include beta access.
Players can also opt in for the beta through the WoW Forever website. That entry is free but not guaranteed. Blizzard will pick additional testers from that list.
The full game works differently. Access at release is included with a World of Warcraft subscription, the regular membership, or game time bought separately. Players who want the new Skyborne race will need an upgrade, however. Pre-purchasing the Collector’s Edition unlocks the Skyborne and their Zephras Isle starting area, the introductory zone where new characters begin.
A name reservation period will run from 27 October through 3 November. During that week, players can create and customise up to three characters and hold their names for launch. The global launch is set for 4 November at 3:00 p.m. PST Blizzard.
The beta will start small. Players will be capped at level 20 at first, rising to level 30 after a few weeks. The full release will be capped at level 60 and will include more than 1,000 new quests.
The story sits between two existing chapters. It is set after Warcraft III Reforged: Forsaken Kingdom but before Molten Core, an early raid, or large group dungeon, from the original game.
New character options are a large part of the pitch. Forsaken Paladin and Dwarf Shaman arrive as new race-class combinations. The Skyborne, described as a race of windswept elves, join as a full new race. Skyborne players can choose the Windshaper Horde or High Order Alliance path to defend Zephras Isle, a floating island in the sky that serves as their starting experience. Another new zone is the Riverglades, a landscape in the Eastern Kingdoms that shifts from lush hillsides to ruined keeps Blizzard.
Systems are changing too. All classes and specialisations, the focused combat roles within each class, get revamps. A new Legacy system grants account-wide benefits as a character progresses. A new Camping system arrives alongside updates to Professions, the crafting and gathering skills, and changes to Honor, the points earned from player-versus-player combat. New dungeons, small-group missions for teams of players, are also included.
The Warcraft Forever Collection is a limited-time package made to mark BlizzCon 2026. It will be available through 11 January 2027. It bundles beta access plus 30 days of game time for play at launch, the Warcraft III Reforged: Forsaken Kingdom prologue and main story campaign plus a copy of Warcraft III: Reforged, two ground mounts with matching looks, and extras for player housing and pets.
Those extras include the Cerulean Prideclaw Ground Mount with matching transmog, the cosmetic outfit system that changes how armour looks, and the Loyal Companion Ground Mount with Veteran Adventurer styling. The bundle also adds Skyborne-themed housing items to the Modern collection and four new pets to the Forever collection.
For players, this means a choice. Subscribers can wait for November and play without paying extra, unless they want the Skyborne from day one. Anyone keen to test early and keep a name will need to weigh the two packs and the October reservation window.
