Killing Eve Prequel Honey to World Premiere at MIPCOM Cannes
Honey, the prequel to Killing Eve, will world premiere at MIPCOM Cannes.
The screening is set for Monday at 6 p.m. CET, which is 9 a.m. PT. Deadline reported the news as its own exclusive.
The premiere event will bring four names on stage. Creator Emma Moran will appear with actor Ann Skelly, executive producer Sally Woodward Gentle and Jennifer Ebell, executive vice president at Fifth Season.
Honey is a Cold War story about an MI6 agent drawn into a dangerous love triangle. It is an origin story for Carolyn Martens, the spymaster played by Fiona Shaw in Killing Eve, and follows her early life long before that series.
Skelly plays Martha, a deep-cover MI6 agent living in East Berlin in 1982. Her co-stars are Nate Mann, Jannis Niewöhner and Rory Kinnear.
The show comes from the BBC and ZDF. Fifth Season is selling it, meaning the company handles international sales to channels and streamers outside its home markets.
Behind the camera, Honey was written by Moran and Emme Hoy. Toby MacDonald and Michelle Savill directed it. Christopher Hall is producer, with Woodward Gentle, Moran and Lee Morris as executive producers.
For viewers who watched Killing Eve, this fills in the past. MIPCOM Cannes is the international television market where buyers shop for new series, so a premiere slot there puts Honey in front of the industry first.
