Topo portable lamp pairs tilting disc with rechargeable base
A tilting disc on a short cylinder is the centre of Topo, a new portable table lamp for Maytoni, the German lighting brand.
The lamp was designed by Felix Pöttinger Design Studio and described by Dezeen on 15 September 2026. It runs on a rechargeable battery and is made to be picked up and moved, with no mains cable needed while it is in use.
The form is simple. A cylindrical base supports a flat, disc-shaped shade that tilts to send light in a chosen direction. Under the shade sits a translucent diffuser, the panel that spreads the light and softens glare. The structure uses two familiar materials, metal and acrylic.
Portable has a plain meaning here. Charge the battery, lift the lamp and set it down where light is needed. Tiltable is literal too. The disc moves, so the pool of light can be tipped toward a table surface or outward into a room.
Topo measures 159 by 159 by 200 millimetres. That footprint suits a side table, a shelf or a desk corner. Buyers have four finish choices: black, light blue, brown and polished metal. Finish, in shop terms, means colour and surface treatment.
Topo is one of two portable table lamps the studio developed with Maytoni. The other is Asym, also battery-powered. Designer Felix Pöttinger said: “Topo is about creating a dialogue between light, surface and space.”
Maytoni gives further background on its website. It says all its products are manufactured in China and sent out from its warehouse in Germany to customers in European and non-EU countries Maytoni. The company says its imports meet European Union rules covering quality controls and conformity certification, and that products carry up to five years of warranty. It also lists international design wins including the Red Dot, IF Award, Good Design Award, Muse Award and A'design prizes.
For anyone who moves a lamp through the day, this means options. Charge it in one room and carry it to another. Angle the shade down for tasks or up for glow. No cable. No fixed spot. The idea is small, movable light without rewiring.
