Wednesday announce Bleeds Deluxe out September 18
Wednesday will mark the first anniversary of Bleeds with a 20-track deluxe edition, due Friday, September 18 via Dead Oceans. The expanded edition, a reissue with extra songs and alternate versions, lands almost exactly a year after the original album, according to Pitchfork.
The extra material leans heavily on reworked songs. Avey Tare remixed “Carolina Murder Suicide,” DJ Sabrina the Teenage DJ remixed “Elderberry Wine” and Fire-Toolz remixed “Bitter Everyday.” Three very different hands on three separate tracks.
The set also includes “June 2 (Early Version),” produced by Kenneth Blume. It offers a look at how one song sounded before the final album cut.
Bleeds was first released on September 19 via Dead Oceans, after the band shared “Wound Up Here (By Holdin On)” to announce it, according to BrooklynVegan. The band then took the album on the road from October, with Friendship supporting on the West Coast dates.
The Asheville band centres on founder, frontwoman and primary lyricist Karly Hartzman, alongside Xandy Chelmis on lap steel and pedal steel, Alan Miller on drums, Ethan Baechtold on bass and piano, and Jake “M.J.” Lenderman on guitar, according to Dead Oceans. Bleeds was produced by Alex Farrar and recorded at Drop of Sun in Asheville. Farrar has been recording the band since Twin Plagues.
Hartzman has described Bleeds as the spiritual successor to Rat Saw God, the band’s 2023 breakthrough. That link framed the 2025 album as a continuation rather than a reset.
Next up is more live work. Wednesday and Mannequin Pussy will begin their joint Bitch Cabal Tour in late October.
For fans, this means a busy fortnight. The deluxe fills in the gaps around a familiar album, then the co-headline run tests those songs in bigger rooms.
