Musicians spark talk of GTA 6 music news as November launch nears
Grand Theft Auto VI might be getting ready to turn up the volume.
Several musicians have posted artwork in the game's bold, sun-soaked style, prompting reports that music news could be coming soon, according to GameSpot.
The open-world game, a series where players explore a large fictional city on foot and by car while following a crime story, is due to launch on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Those are Sony's and Microsoft's current home consoles. With that date less than three months away, every post with the series' look gets noticed fast.
Travis Scott led the latest round. He shared an image of high heels on a pole drawn in that recognisable art style. He captioned it "See yall soon" and tagged Rockstar Games, the studio behind the series.
Morgan Wallen posted his own teaser, an image of a swimming pool with no water in it. The record label Freebandz followed with a shot of a car carrying a Leonida licence plate that reads "VCE BBY". Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards also released a teaser.
There is recent history here. GTA 6 was previously rumoured to feature DJ Khaled hosting his own in-game radio station, the music channels players hear while driving around the game world. That remains a rumour. It was never confirmed, and it has not been restated as fact in the latest reports.
Music has long been central to how these games feel. Past entries use licensed songs and talk hosts to fill out their cities, with different stations for pop, rock, hip-hop and dance. Artists sometimes appear as DJs or characters. For a general audience, think of it as the soundtrack to a very long film you can steer.
