Britt Stewart teams with Taylor Hanson for Dancing With the Stars Season 35
Britt Stewart will chase her first Dancing With the Stars trophy with Hanson singer Taylor Hanson in Season 35.
Stewart told The Hollywood Reporter that “this year might be the season” for the pair. She said she felt “overwhelmed with all the love” from fans heading into the premiere. Short sentence. Big feeling.
Stewart has been a professional dancer on the show since Season 29 in 2020. She was the first Black female professional dancer cast on the programme. Her best result so far is fifth place in Season 31 with actor Daniel Durant, who is now her husband.
She said she knew quickly that Hanson was the right match. “This is my partner,” she recalled thinking when they met, because he wants to go all the way. The two have also described his boy band background as an asset for the ballroom, in an interview with E! Online.
Hanson is best known as a member of the band Hanson and for its 1990s hit “MMMBop,” according to KOCO. That stage history means years of live performance, harmonies and touring crowds. For a newcomer to ballroom, rhythm and stamina help.
Stewart’s own path started in front of the television. She said the High School Musical films were the start of her dance career, and that she was 15 when she appeared in the first film. She was later scouted at a Disneyland 60 performance and asked to audition for the Dancing With the Stars troupe, the show’s larger dance ensemble that supports the main couples.
The new season will open with a two-night premiere airing live at 8/7c, according to ABC. The network lists Alfonso Ribeiro and Julianne Hough as hosts, with Derek Hough and Bruno Tonioli as judges. Episodes stream on Disney+.
Hanson is one of a wide celebrity line-up. ABC’s cast guide also names figure skater Amber Glenn, actors Jenna Dewan, Julia Stiles, Tatyana Ali and Harry Shum Jr., chef Giada De Laurentiis and Paralympian Ezra Frech among the stars.
