Four copies of Charles Spencer's Diana memoir stolen from lorry before release
Four copies of Charles Spencer's memoir about his late sister Diana, Princess of Wales were stolen from a lorry in the Netherlands days before publication.
The book, Swan Song: Diana, My Sister, is due out on 22 September. The theft was first reported by the Daily Mail on Tuesday, 15 September, according to People.
The lorry was carrying stock to a warehouse for distribution. Its driver had stopped overnight to sleep and woke to find it had been broken into, HELLO! reported.
Dutch police are reported to be investigating the theft. Four copies were taken.
Those copies had been concealed in black plastic wrapping, a standard step to keep the contents of advance books under wraps before release, GB News reported.
Spencer, 62, has described Swan Song as the most personal of the ten books he has written. It tells the story of Diana, Princess of Wales, from the perspective of her younger brother.
He shared a first look at the finished copy on Instagram on 11 September, just days before news of the theft emerged.
