Columbia Pictures held the world premiere of Resident Evil at The United Theater on Broadway in Los Angeles on September 15, 2026, three days before the film opens in cinemas worldwide, as documented by Deadline in red-carpet photos published September 16.

Star Austin Abrams led the arrivals. He was joined on the carpet by David Dastmalchian, Nicole Williams English, Tyler Posey and Francesca Capaldi, according to the same Deadline gallery.

Writer Shay Hatten, actors Ethan Cutkosky and Johnno Wilson, and producers Will Merrick and Roy Lee also attended the Los Angeles premiere, Deadline reported.

The film is directed by Zach Cregger. Abrams stars as a medical courier, with Zach Cherry, Kali Reis and Paul Walter Hauser in the cast, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Sony’s reboot also played for festivalgoers at the 2026 Fantastic Fest on Tuesday night. The studio allowed that audience to post brief thoughts after the screening, while full reviews were held under embargo, a timed hold on publication, until 9 a.m. PT on Sept. 16, The Hollywood Reporter reported.

The wait is short. Resident Evil hits theatres globally on Sept. 18, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Sony Pictures lists the film as exclusively in movie theatres September 18 on its movies index.

For fans, this means the calendar is now simple. Premiere nights are done. Theatres are next.
