Yinka Ilori turns bins and ironing boards bright for Brabantia
Rubbish bins are taking centre stage. British-Nigerian designer Yinka Ilori has designed a collection of bins, ironing board covers and kitchenware for homeware brand Brabantia, called the Home Collection. Dezeen published details of the range on 16 September 2026.
The brief was simple. Add colour and joy to everyday objects in the home. Ilori said the idea behind the collection was to find the magic in the everyday. It covers objects used daily for waste, laundry and meals.
Three bins anchor the range. The largest is a dual bin set on legs. Alongside it sit a compact five-litre pedal bin, a small bin opened by a foot lever, and a larger 30-litre pedal bin.
The ironing setup gets the same treatment. The collection includes a full ironing board plus two additional covers. All three covers share the same starting motif as the bins.
Laundry and kitchen are included. There is a drying rack for clothes. There is also a gift set made up of a water bottle, a breakfast bowl and a salad bowl.
The pattern links the larger pieces. On the bins and the ironing board covers, multiple orange lines run together before resolving into a unified striped pattern. The Home Collection uses contrasting yellow, orange and purple. Brabantia describes Ilori as known for his signature colours and graphic patterns.
What makes this stand out is scale. A pattern that could live on a wall has been fitted to lids, levers and boards. Colour does the work here. Nothing is meant to be hidden away.
For shoppers, this means the choice is straightforward. Pick a bin size, pick a cover, then match the smaller kitchen pieces. The collection keeps routine chores in the same visual language. No specialist knowledge is needed to use any of it.
Brabantia lists the Yinka Ilori x Brabantia collection as exclusive and available from September. Its Polish site describes the range as a limited collection, while the US listing includes a 30-litre model under the name Bo Touch Trash Can Hi 2 x 8 gallon.
