Edgar Barrera Leads 2026 Latin Grammy Nominations Ahead of Las Vegas Ceremony
Edgar Barrera leads the nominations for the 2026 Latin Grammy Awards with 10 nods, ahead of a four-way tie on seven.
The Latin Recording Academy announced the nominees for the 27th Annual Latin Grammy Awards on September 16. The winners will be revealed on November 12 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, in a ceremony set to air live on Univision, as reported by Pitchfork.
Close behind Barrera are Karol G, Rosalía, Argentine duo CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso, and Jorge Drexler, with seven nominations each. The group covers pop, urban music, electronic-infused alternative and long-form songwriting. It leaves no single runner-up.
Among the contenders for Album of the Year, the award for a complete album, are Rosalía's Lux, Karol G's Tropicoqueta and Free Spirits by CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso. The prize credits the artist alongside the producers, songwriters and engineers behind the record. Recordings released between June 1, 2025 and May 31, 2026 were eligible for this year's awards, according to the Latin Recording Academy.
Rosalía's "La Perla," featuring Yahritza y Su Esencia, earned nominations in both Record of the Year and Song of the Year. Record of the Year honours the recording, including the performance and production. Song of the Year honours the songwriting.
Winners are chosen by the Academy's voting members in online ballots. The final round of voting was listed for October 1. The Academy had earlier named Daddy Yankee its 2026 Person of the Year, an honour presented separately from the competitive categories.
What makes this stand out is the spread. One clear leader. Four names tied behind him. Three very different albums in the Album of the Year race. For fans, this means plenty to listen back to before November.
