Anthropic Combines Docs, Slides and Cowork Into One Claude
Anthropic has launched Claude Docs and Claude Slides in beta, which let people build documents and presentations directly inside a Claude chat. The release combines regular Claude chats and Cowork into a single interface the company calls "one Claude". The Verge
Docs and Slides work inside the chat thread. You ask Claude for a document or deck, refine it through conversation, and finish with a file you can export, edit, and share. With this change, tools that used to live in separate entry points, including Artifacts and Claude Design features, can now be reached from any chat.
New Docs start private. The owner can then invite other editors to work on the same document at the same time. People working on the Doc, including Claude itself, can leave comments on it. That means human reviewers and the model can annotate the same copy, rather than sending static versions back and forth.
Sharing is built around links. Work made with Claude Design, Slides, or Docs sits at a single link that opens on a phone. The workflow works across devices. You can start a task at a desk, check in from a phone, and get back a deck, document, or spreadsheet to review. Anthropic
Under the surface, Claude builds these files with code, not only by writing text. It uses common code packages, meaning ready-made software building blocks, to create documents, spreadsheets, and slides. Anthropic Support Cowork goes further by letting Claude take on full tasks with access to files on your computer, connected tools, and the browser. Claude Design came earlier as an Anthropic Labs project for making finished visual work with Claude, such as designs, prototypes, slides, and one-pagers. Anthropic Docs and Slides apply that same approach to everyday documents, with Cowork now available on web and mobile as well as desktop. Claude Support
Access is rolling out in stages. The "one Claude" update is coming first to Pro and Max users on web, desktop, and mobile over the next few weeks, with Team and Free users to follow later. The Verge
The broader context here is that text generation is not the change. Models have produced drafts and slide outlines for years. The change is continuity. Chat, file handling, collaborative editing, and a phone-friendly delivery link now stay in one session.
In my view, that setup addresses a familiar problem. Since the early PC productivity suites, I have watched work split apart. The draft lives in one app, comments in another, source files somewhere else, and the model loses track. Treating the document as a shared and long-lived workspace reduces that rebuilding of context. For security and platform teams, there is a tradeoff to manage. Wider access to files, mail, calendar, and browser widens what could go wrong, which makes clear permissions, audit logs, and easy revocation important. If Anthropic handles that part well, users should spend less time hunting for context and more time reviewing work that is already linked to where it happens.
