Elijah Blue Allman indicted on felony charge over New Hampshire window damage
Elijah Blue Allman, the 50-year-old son of Cher and the late Allman Brothers frontman Gregg Allman, has been indicted on a felony criminal mischief charge in New Hampshire.
The indictment alleges Allman purposely damaged property by breaking a glass window, according to Rolling Stone. The charge is a Windham case being handled in Rockingham County Court. Court records list Allman’s address on Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, California, Patch reported.
Police went to a home in Windham at 9:47 a.m. on March 1 after a report of a burglary in progress. An officer found Allman seated on the living room couch smoking a cigarette. The homeowner was found hiding in a closet and told police she had not given him permission to enter.
Allman has been held in a locked psychiatric hospital in New Hampshire since shortly after that arrest. An adult order of commitment dated March 2 initially listed charges of burglary, criminal mischief and breach of bail. An indictment is a formal decision that a criminal case can move forward. It is not a finding of guilt.
The March 1 incident followed another arrest two days earlier. Allman was out on bail at the time after being detained at St. Paul’s School in Concord on Feb. 27. In that earlier incident he was booked and released on suspicion of trespassing, criminal threatening and simple assault.
He now faces a disorderly conduct charge in connection with the Concord arrest, alongside simple assault, criminal trespass and criminal threatening charges, WMUR reported.
After the back-to-back arrests, Cher renewed her bid for a court-ordered conservatorship in California, a legal order that would give someone else control of his finances. She asked that a professional conservator take charge. A judge declined to grant an emergency conservatorship at a hearing in late April, citing a possible issue with jurisdiction.
Separately, Cher filed papers opposing Allman’s wife, Marieangela King-Allman, serving as his guardian. In that filing, reported by People, Cher alleged that King-Allman had re-entered her son’s life for money.
The filings describe alleged behaviour across two incidents in February and March. The criminal cases in New Hampshire are continuing.
