Charlie's Angels Reunite at Emmys for 50th Anniversary
Jaclyn Smith, Kate Jackson and Cheryl Ladd reunited onstage at the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards to celebrate 50 years of Charlie's Angels. The Television Academy staged the reunion as its anniversary tribute to the series, according to Variety. The appearance was reported as part of the 2026 ceremony by People.
At launch, Kate Jackson played Sabrina Duncan, Jaclyn Smith played Kelly Garrett and Farrah Fawcett played Jill Munroe. Ladd joined as Kris Munroe, the sister of Jill, after Fawcett left after the first season following a contract dispute with producer Aaron Spelling. John Forsythe voiced Charlie, their boss. He was never seen.
The original series aired for five seasons from 1976 to 1981. It earned four Emmy nominations during that run. It won none.
Jackson accounted for two of those nominations for acting. David Doyle earned one for playing Bosley, the Angels' handler. The fourth was for sound editing in 1977.
Smith told Variety that Emmy voters had looked down on the programme at the time. She said it was dismissed as fluff and as Barbie dolls, describing a snobbism toward the show.
The Emmys reunion followed another joint appearance earlier in 2026, when Smith, Jackson and Ladd took part in a 50-year Charlie's Angels celebration at PaleyFest in Los Angeles. Smith is now on a nationwide tour promoting her memoir, I Once Knew a Guy Named Charlie. She has also recalled major drama surrounding a previous Angels reunion at the Emmys, as reported by USA Today.
The franchise lived on after television. The 2000 and 2003 films starred Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu. The 2019 film was directed by Elizabeth Banks and starred Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott and Ella Balinska.
What makes this stand out is the maths. Four nominations, no wins, yet 50 years later the series still commands a centre-stage slot. For viewers, it was a chance to see three Angels together in one place.
