Matt Rife's Unaccompanied Minor adds seven as production starts in Delaware
Seven actors have joined Matt Rife's new comedy Unaccompanied Minor as cameras roll in Delaware, according to Deadline.
Production is now underway on the film, which was formerly titled The Escort. David Dobkin directs. Rife leads the cast.
The story centres on a flight attendant and an unaccompanied young flyer. Rife plays the attendant, assigned to look after a 14-year-old boy on a flight. The boy is played by newcomer Finnegan Schut.
Schut is one of seven additions confirmed on 17 September. The others are Iliza Shlesinger, Trae Crowder, Chris Distefano, Karan Soni, Jaime Ray Newman and Bill Camp. No character details for the six have been disclosed.
Dobkin co-wrote the script with Justin Adler. Dobkin is best known for broad comedies built around mismatched pairs, though the producers have not described the tone of this film.
Behind the camera, the picture is set up as an independent production. Christopher Lemole, Tim Zajaros and Alexis Garcia are producing through Top Rope Studios. Producer's Alliance Capital is financing alongside Top Rope, Deadline reported.
No US distributor has been announced. UTA Independent Film Group, Top Rope Studios and Producer's Alliance Capital are jointly shopping North American rights, meaning cinema and home release in the United States and Canada. Upgrade is handling international sales, selling distribution rights country by country.
For audiences, this means the film is still some way from screens. Independent films typically secure distributors during or after the shoot, then set a release date. Delaware is standing in as the production base for now, with further release plans to follow.
