Simpsons casting chief Scott Muller joins The Most Serious Fart for 2027 release
The people who find voices for Springfield are taking on Siegfried the fart.
Scott Muller, casting director of The Simpsons, will oversee voice casting for The Most Serious Fart, Variety reported on 17 September 2026. The animated feature from Utopai is set for a theatrical release in 2027. That means cinemas, in the United States and Canada and beyond.
The story centres on Siegfried. He is an uptight fart with a serious mission: to make farts respectable. His campaign goes sideways. Along the way he learns about self-acceptance, friendship and fun.
Muller is the person who finds and selects actors for each voice part. In animation that choice shapes everything, because the voice comes before the final movement and expression. His earlier credits include the same job on Futurama, King of the Hill and the animated Napoleon Dynamite series. That run links the new film to three decades of American television animation.
He will be joined in the early build by Andy Brooks. Brooks has come aboard as key story artist, the artist who draws out scenes in sequence to test story, jokes and action before full animation begins. Brooks was previously a story artist on Coyote vs. Acme.
The film is based on Mike Bender’s bestselling children’s book. Utopai Studios identifies the book as a 2023 release. Bender will write, direct and produce the screen version, a triple role that keeps the adaptation under the author’s control. Russell Hollander will also produce.
Utopai said human animators and illustrators will lead the creative process and originate the artwork. Artificial intelligence will be used selectively as a production tool to support iteration under human direction. In plain terms, people draw and decide, while software helps speed up revisions.
The film sits inside a larger plan. Utopai Studios has said it will premiere three films and two series in 2027. The Most Serious Fart is the cinema title to name its casting and story hires first.
What makes this stand out is the pairing. A crew schooled in long-running television comedy is now building a new film world around a very small, very serious hero.
