Jalen Brunson to Guest-Star on Law & Order: SVU in November
New York Knicks star Jalen Brunson is heading to Law & Order: SVU.
NBC has confirmed the point guard will guest-star in Season 28. His episode airs on Nov. 5, with the new season debuting on Oct. 8, according to Variety. It is a short wait. Basketball meets crime drama in seven weeks.
Who Brunson will play is staying secret. Exact character details are under wraps. NBC has released no storyline for his episode.
The booking has been building all summer. The Knicks won their first NBA Championship in 53 years in June. Asked then about his offseason plans, Brunson said he would try to get on SVU.
Lead star Mariska Hargitay quickly picked up the idea. She had already named Brunson and Jamie Lee Curtis as her top dream guest stars in May, according to NBC Insider. She strongly hinted in August that his appearance could happen, then said it is definitely happening.
The two are real-life friends. During a visit to TODAY in May, Hargitay said the Knicks guard was on her guest-star bucket list. After the Knicks win in June, Brunson told Hargitay he plans to come and see her Broadway show once the NBA playoffs were done.
Fellow Law & Order veteran Christopher Meloni also backed the casting. He expressed support for Brunson joining Special Victims Unit when asked in June, according to TMZ. Hargitay has spoken often about favourite SVU visitors, naming Robin Williams as her most memorable guest star.
Viewers have already seen Hargitay and Brunson share the screen. Brunson appeared opposite her in a pre-recorded segment that opened the 2026 Emmy Awards telecast. Hargitay hosted the ceremony.
Brunson is keeping a busy NBC diary this autumn. He will host the Season 52 premiere of Saturday Night Live on Sept. 26. That is the network's live sketch show, which brings in a celebrity host each week.
On SVU, the core team stays in place. Hargitay and Ice T return alongside Peter Scanavino, Kelli Giddish, Kevin Kane, Aime Donna Kelly and Corey Cott. Michele Fazekas, the showrunner meaning the writer-producer in charge of creative direction, returned at the start of Season 27.
