JJ Gabriel: Manchester United teen asks to leave as European giants circle
JJ Gabriel has told Manchester United he wants to cancel his registration with immediate effect.
The 15-year-old forward has left the UK and travelled to Barcelona. He flew out on Thursday via France, according to BBC Sport.
It is a sharp turn for one of the most talked-about teenagers in English football. Gabriel turns 16 on 6 October. He has not trained at United since 10 September.
His last appearance told you why the fuss exists. Gabriel scored a hat-trick on his UEFA Youth League debut on 10 September, Europe's top youth club competition. That 5-0 win came against Sabah, as shown in United's own match footage.

Gabriel's background has added to the intrigue. His father is a former Republic of Ireland international. His mother has Greek-Cypriot heritage.
United know exactly what they have. He is listed as a forward for the club's Under-18s. Last season he scored 23 league goals and was named United's 2025/26 Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year, the club's top academy prize.
He was invited into the directors' box on first-team matchdays at least three times this season and met Sir Alex Ferguson. He had been in line to become United's youngest player in history.
