England all-rounder Dani Gibson will stay with Somerset until the end of the 2028 season. The county confirmed a two-year contract extension on 18 September.

Gibson, who bats and bowls at senior level, has become a central part of Somerset's women's set-up. The new deal keeps her at the Cooper Associates County Ground in Taunton for at least two more seasons, according to Somerset County Cricket Club.

She has played eight matches for Somerset across the past two campaigns. In that time she has scored 262 runs with a highest score of 77, reported by BBC Sport. Her best bowling return for the club stands at two for 31.

Her county form sits alongside an established England career. Gibson has won 41 England caps in total. That breaks down as six One-Day Internationals, the 50-overs-a-side format, and 35 T20 Internationals, the 20-overs-a-side game.

For England she has scored 311 runs with a best of 41 not out. Her best bowling figures at international level are three for 14. She made her full England debut during the 2023 Ashes series against Australia.

Gibson's route to this point started early. A product of the Gloucestershire Pathway, she made her county debut for Gloucestershire in 2014 at the age of 13. She moved to Wales ahead of the 2019 season and came through Western Storm's South West Regional Development Programme.

She made her full Western Storm debut in the 2018 Kia Super League. A year later she was part of the Storm squad that lifted the title. She also spent time as an England Academy player before stepping up to the senior side.

Franchise cricket has followed. Gibson has featured in Australia's Big Bash and India's WPL. She joined Sunrisers Leeds from London Spirit as the most expensive player in The Women's Hundred.

For fans, this means continuity. Somerset keep an experienced international who can change a game in either innings. Gibson offers runs in the middle order and useful overs with the ball, a balance every captain wants.
