Georgia Adams commits to Hampshire until 2028 as trophy-laden captain stays put

Georgia Adams has signed a new two-year contract extension with Hampshire, keeping her at the Utilita Bowl until 2028 (BBC Sport).

The 32-year-old all-rounder has been the face of women's cricket in the region since she first joined the Southern Vipers in 2016. In that time she has lifted six trophies with the side, establishing herself as one of the most decorated players in the domestic women's game.

Her winning habit extends well beyond Hampshire. Adams has won The Hundred — cricket's 100-ball city tournament — with three different franchises: Oval Invincibles, Southern Brave and Trent Rockets. She also tasted overseas success in 2023, claiming Australia's Women's Big Bash League title with the Adelaide Strikers (BBC Sport).

Adams was named Hampshire women's captain ahead of the 2025 season, working alongside head coach Charlotte Edwards — the former England captain whose own playing career made her one of the game's all-time greats (Utilita Bowl). Speaking in April, Adams described a winter of cultural "reset" and leadership reshaping that left her side eager to "hit the ground running" (Hampshire Chronicle).

That reset appears to be working. Hampshire currently sit second in the Women's One-Day Cup table, a 50-over regional competition, with eight wins from their eleven group matches. The position puts them firmly in the hunt for a final berth as the season enters its closing stretch.

Hampshire's next outing is against Surrey at Guildford on Wednesday, with play starting at 10:30 BST.

For Adams, the extension is a straightforward commitment to a project she helped build. For Hampshire, it secures a captain who has won wherever she has played — and who now has two more years to add to that haul.
