Golf Trip tees off as Segura, Santino and Stamos start shooting ensemble comedy
Production is underway on Golf Trip, an ensemble comedy starring Tom Segura, Andrew Santino, Timothy Simons, Sinqua Walls, Heather Graham and John Stamos. The film from Live Nation Studios, Hartbeat and All Things Comedy started shooting this week, according to Deadline.
The story centres on three best friends and the annual golf trip they have organised around their friendship. The routine breaks when a fourth friend drops out at short notice. The remaining trio are then paired with a solo golfer they did not invite and cannot easily shake.
Segura plays that golfer, Chuck Wheeler. He is described as aggressively friendly. His arrival turns a familiar holiday into an awkward foursome.
Santino plays Jason. Simons plays Don. Walls plays Mike. Together they are the three friends trying to hold their tradition together once Chuck joins the group.
Graham plays Margo. Stamos plays Ted. They complete the central line-up around the disrupted trip, with each character pulled into the chaos on and off the course.
Nicholas Thomas directs the film. He wrote the script with Corey Pendergast, Deadline reported. The pairing gives Thomas a close hold on both the story and how it plays on screen, from dialogue to pace to performance.
The film is produced by Stella Bulochnikov and Jolene alongside Luke Kelly-Clyne and Kevin Hart for Hartbeat and Billy Rosenberg for All Things Comedy. That structure brings together independent producers with Hartbeat, the comedy company, and All Things Comedy, the label behind stand-up driven projects.
Executive producers, senior credits for backers who support a film creatively or financially, include Segura, Santino, Thomas, Jeremy Stein, Aaron Edmonds, Harold Berón III, Ryan Kroft and Michael Rapino. Brendan Darmody serves as co-executive producer, according to Deadline.
