Vicky Krieps goes from Lizzie Borden to Ocean's Eleven prequel

Vicky Krieps has swapped a 19th-century murder house for a heist on the Riviera.
Krieps plays Bridget “Maggie” Sullivan in Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story, an eight-part series that began streaming on Netflix on 17 September. She told The Hollywood Reporter she is already at work on her next job, Bradley Cooper’s Ocean’s Eleven prequel, shooting in the South of France.
The new Monster season centres on Lizzie Borden, played by Ella Beatty as the woman accused of killing her father and stepmother with an axe. The cast also includes Charlie Hunnam as Andrew Borden, Lizzie’s father, alongside Rebecca Hall, Sarah Paulson and Krieps, according to Netflix Tudum. All eight episodes are streaming now.
Krieps plays the person closest to the family and furthest from power in the house. Bridget “Maggie” Sullivan is the Bordens’ live-in maid and housekeeper. It is a watching brief, with a front-row view of the tension inside the home.
Many viewers first met Krieps in Phantom Thread, Paul Thomas Anderson’s 2017 film about a haute couture dressmaker. She played his young muse opposite Daniel Day-Lewis. The film premiered in New York in December 2017 and went on to receive six Academy Award nominations.
After the awards circuit, Krieps turned down Hollywood offers and returned to Europe. The half-Luxembourgish, half-German actor built her career largely in European film before returning to an American series lead.
Her next project keeps her in France. Cooper and Margot Robbie were photographed filming scenes for the upcoming Ocean’s Eleven prequel in Saint-Tropez, reported Yahoo Entertainment on 15 September. Krieps confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that she is on the same production.
For fans, this means back-to-back Krieps roles. She had already appeared in Monster: The Ed Gein Story, the third season of Netflix’s true-crime anthology series, which starred Hunnam as Ed Gein. Now Hunnam and Krieps return in new roles for the Lizzie Borden story.
