After more than 20 years building an international career on two acoustic guitars and no words, Rodrigo y Gabriela have started singing.

The Grammy-winning Mexican duo released their new album OurHome on Sept. 18 through ATO Records, with lyrics and vocals for the first time in their catalogue, Billboard reported.

OurHome contains 11 tracks. It was recorded in Japan and produced by Rodrigo Sánchez and Gabriela Quintero at NK Sound Tokyo.

The first single is “Monster.” It arrived with a music video created by manga artist Naoki Urasawa.

The vocal debut comes on “Somos Como Tú,” which translates to “We Are Like You.” The duo sing in Spanish. Sánchez takes lead vocals, with Quintero responding, backed by hand percussion and a fan choir.

The song addresses migration, displacement, dignity and shared humanity from the perspective of those seeking a path and a place to belong. Sánchez said he wrote it while living in Paris in 2015.

What makes this stand out is the break in habit. For a duo known for letting fingerwork carry melody, rhythm and drama, voices become another instrument. The words arrive in Spanish. They are direct and plainly sung.

“Somos Como Tú” was released as a single on Sept. 16, JamBase reported. The album had been offered for pre-order ahead of release.

Tour dates organised around OurHome include a show listed for Sept. 18, 2026, and a Sept. 30, 2026 concert at House of Blues Dallas in Dallas, Texas, according to the duo’s official site.

The pair discussed the shift in an interview with Billboard Español titled ‘Rodrigo y Gabriela incorporan letra y voz a su música en ‘OurHome’’.
