EBiDAN's 'Yes! Tokyo' holds Japan Hot 100 top spot for third week

EBiDAN's "Yes! Tokyo" has stayed at No. 1 on the Billboard Japan Hot 100 for a third week.

The chart dated Sept. 16 covers the tracking week of Sept. 7 to 13. "Yes! Tokyo" led on streaming and video views to hold the top spot, according to Billboard.

The song is a 15th-anniversary track released digitally on Aug. 11. It first reached No. 1 on the chart dated Aug. 19, then reclaimed the lead on the chart dated Sept. 9 before extending its run.

The ranking blends physical sales, downloads, streams, video and other measures into overall points. That mix decided a tight race this week.

SixTONES finished at No. 2 with "Dance Forever". The song is half of "Dance Forever / My Only", the group's 18th single, released physically on Sept. 9. It launched with 430,312 copies to top the sales count for the week, but could not pass EBiDAN overall.

M!LK debuted at No. 3 with "Jiku Koete Universe". The track opened with 15,829 units and posted the most downloads of any song that week.

SKE48 followed at No. 4 with "Tameiki Mirai". The song is the title track of the group's 37th single.

The week's sharpest climb belonged to Aimyon. Her 2018 song "Marigold" jumped from No. 23 to No. 5. It has returned to the top 10 for the first time in about six years and three months, with overall points up 275% week over week.

The rest of the top 10 was Mrs. GREEN APPLE's "Brand New" at No. 6, =LOVE's "Koi, Hajimemashita." at No. 7, Motoki Ohmori's "Haiiro" at No. 8, M!LK's "Sukisugite Metsu!" at No. 9 and Spitz's "Mishiranu Ito" at No. 10.

What makes this stand out is the split at the top. One No. 1 was powered by plays and views. One challenger was powered by discs in bags. For fans, this means the same chart can reward very different kinds of weeks.
