Papa Roach cancel Louder Than Life set after bassist medical emergency
Papa Roach cancelled their Sept. 19 set at Louder Than Life in Louisville after bassist Tobin Esperance suffered what the band described as an unexpected medical emergency.
The band confirmed the cancellation on Friday, Sept. 19, hours before it was due on stage. The news was reported by Billboard, citing a statement from the group.
In that statement, the band said medical professionals had advised that Esperance would be unable to perform that weekend. No further details were given. The group disclosed nothing about the nature of the emergency.
Papa Roach said Esperance's health was its immediate concern. It asked fans to respect his privacy while he recovers.
The Louisville date had been scheduled as the band's final United States show before heading to Europe. Its Rise of the Roach tour is scheduled to resume on Nov. 1 at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow, with the European run due to close on Dec. 6 in Lyon.
The band said it looks forward to welcoming Esperance back on stage in November.
Louder Than Life 2026 is scheduled for Sept. 17-20, according to Louder Than Life. Papa Roach had been listed as a performer on the festival's lineup page.
For fans in Louisville, this means the Friday slot did not go ahead as billed. The band has not announced a replacement date in the United States, with its published schedule next pointing to Glasgow in November.
