Both squads arrived with problems to solve. Rangers captain Lawrence Shankland pulled his hamstring against Motherwell, while new £9m signing Kevin Kelsy is still settling in. Celtic came into the league derby after a Europa League defeat to Ferencvaros, Europe's second-tier club competition.
What makes this stand out is the speed of the shift. McInnes said he remains embarrassed by Rangers' European exits to Jagiellonia Bialystok and Jablonec. Seven days, two wins over Celtic, and the mood around his team is different. For fans, this means a title race again.
