In my view, the episode will matter less for immediate parliamentary arithmetic than for recruitment pipelines. Young activists and former councillors carry canvassing capacity and candidate potential. If eligibility in one party narrows on those tests, and another party offers an internal home that preserves a prior identity, movement becomes lower cost. Whether that home endures depends on selection, policy influence and retention, none of which are settled by a conference arrival.
