Christina Applegate Shares First Video After Four-Month Hospital Stay
Christina Applegate is back on camera after four months in hospital. The 54-year-old actor posted a new video on Instagram, her first video post since a months-long stay linked to her multiple sclerosis battle, Variety reported on 21 September.
She looks straight into the lens. Blonde hair, fresh colour, a black zip-up hoodie. No red carpet. Just home.
Applegate captioned the clip, “Fresh hair color, new weird spot on my cheek haha thank you [@davestanwell] for brightening up my cloudy day.” She closed the message simply: “Love you and love to you all out there.”
The update follows a long stretch away from public view. News broke in March that she had been hospitalised, and she remained in care in Los Angeles from late March until her discharge, TMZ reported on 3 August. That stay lasted four months, and the new post is her first video since, according to Entertainment Weekly.
Applegate has since returned home. A report in early August said she was doing well after the months-long hospitalisation, and she told followers on Instagram in April that she was “getting stronger and better every day,” People reported.
Her health challenges have been public for several years. Applegate announced her multiple sclerosis diagnosis in August 2021. Multiple sclerosis is a progressive nerve disease where the immune system attacks the protective covering of nerves. She made her first public appearance after the diagnosis at her Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony the following year.
She has spoken openly about how limiting the condition can be. In May 2025 she said she rarely goes out, and in March 2025 she said she had been hospitalised 30 times for diarrhoea and vomiting with severe pain amid her struggle with the disease. In August 2025 she said she had been treated with IV antibiotics for an infection that started in her right kidney and spread to her left kidney.
What makes this stand out is the tone. Short video. Warm words. A thank you to the hairstylist who brightened a cloudy day. For fans, this means seeing her outside hospital walls again, on her own terms.
