The Mosquito Bowl to world premiere at AFI Fest

Peter Berg's The Mosquito Bowl will have its world premiere at the 40th AFI Fest.
The gala screening is set for the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood on Oct. 22, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The film is directed by Berg for Netflix.
Netflix will put the film in theatres on Oct. 30, then release it on its streaming service on Nov. 25. That is a short theatrical window, the gap between the cinema opening and the streaming debut.
The film is an adaptation of Buzz Bissinger's New York Times bestseller of the same name. Berg co-wrote the script with Mark L. Smith and produced it alongside Brian Grazer and Alex Gayner.
Nicholas Galitzine stars as John McLaughry, with Bill Skarsgård as Bob Bauman. Ray Nicholson plays Tony Butkovich and Tom Francis plays David Schreiner.
Bissinger and Berg are cousins. They previously collaborated on the 2004 film Friday Night Lights and the 2008-2011 television series of the same name, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
For viewers, this means the first screening will be in a cinema, not on a phone or television. What makes this stand out is the family connection behind it, with two cousins returning to work together more than 20 years after Friday Night Lights.
