Stay when GTA 6 arrives, and Rainbow Six Siege will treat you like royalty.

That is the message from Joshua Mills, creative director of Siege. His golden rule for the launch window is simple: “serve the players who stay like kings and queens” Video Games Chronicle.

Mills, who has spent 11 years at Ubisoft, set out the thinking in an interview with The Game Business. He recognises that GTA 6 will pull players away. He said games in any genre will take a player-count hit when it launches.

His answer is not to go quiet. It is to double down.

Season Four of Siege, the team-based shooter that Ubisoft updates in seasons after launch, will drop right around the time of GTA 6’s launch. The studio is also holding back unannounced surprises to make a splash in that same window. Mills said the team will reward players who keep playing instead of taking a break.

It is a direct pitch to loyalty. Play on. Get more.

For players, this means the weeks around GTA 6 may be unusually busy in Siege. A new season normally brings fresh content and balance changes. Timed extras would give regulars another reason to log in while much of the industry looks elsewhere.
