America's Got Talent May Leave California for Season 22

America's Got Talent may leave California for its 22nd season.

Production companies Fremantle and Simon Cowell's Syco are considering Georgia or Tennessee as a new filming base, according to Deadline. No final decision had been made as of September 2026.

The NBC talent contest is hosted by Terry Crews. The judging panel is Howie Mandel, Mel B, Sofia Vergara and Cowell. Cowell created the programme and executive produces it alongside Sam Donnelly and Natasha Brugler.

A move would end a long run in one place. The show has filmed predominantly at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium across its first 21 seasons.

Money is driving the discussion. Georgia offers up to a 30% tax credit for unscripted and reality television, a rebate that cuts filming costs, for productions that spend at least $500,000 in the state.

California has tried to keep this type of show. Legislators passed AB 1138, which expanded the state's film and television tax credit to certain unscripted productions for the first time. Only large-scale competition shows with a minimum budget of $1 million per episode were eligible, and American Idol did not qualify.

Idol is already going. The ABC music competition series is moving production from Los Angeles to Georgia for its 25th season, as reported by Deadline. It followed The Masked Singer, which moved from Los Angeles to New Jersey for Season 15. Auditions for Idol's 25th season were organised last month and were scheduled to continue through September.

For fans, this means the live-show address could change. For now, Pasadena remains home until producers lock in a decision.
