Brandon Flowers brought “An American Dream” to late-night television on September 22, performing the song on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Flowers, the frontman — the lead singer and most visible member — of The Killers, appeared to discuss his solo album Thrasher and play the track live. The show said earlier that day that Flowers would be that night’s guest to talk about the new album, billed as THRASHER, and perform “An American Dream.”

The performance is now posted by NBC as an official clip titled “Brandon Flowers: An American Dream” NBC, with the listing dated 09/22/26. The show also shared a reel that night captioned “@brandonflowers performs ‘An American Dream’! #FallonTonight.”

“An American Dream” comes from Thrasher, described as a country-inspired solo album Rolling Stone. It plays in the final moments of the record. In the song, Flowers remembers his mom, according to an album rundown BroadwayWorld.

The album leans into Nashville sounds, and its players reflect that choice. Guitarist David Rawlings recorded on Thrasher. Pedal steel guitarist Bruce Bouton also recorded on it. The pedal steel is the instrument that gives much country music its smooth, sliding tone.

Harmonica player Charlie McCoy recorded on the album as well. McCoy previously played harmonica on Bob Dylan’s Nashville LPs, the records Dylan cut in Nashville with local session musicians in the late 1960s.

Flowers has also confirmed that a new Killers album is in progress. It will be the first Killers album with all four members since Battle Born. He said the record is more likely to be released in early 2028.

For fans, this sets up two timelines. Thrasher is the solo project in front of audiences now. The full-band return is further off, with recording still under way.
