Yes renews Gitit Fisher's On Standby for Season 2
Israeli broadcaster Yes has renewed On Standby, the comedy-drama co-created by and starring Gitit Fisher, for a second season.
Deadline exclusively reported the renewal on 23 September 2026. The order keeps the series on Yes in Israel and gives Sagit’s story another run.
A renewal, meaning a broadcaster orders more episodes after a first run, takes a title off the bubble, the trade term for a show waiting on a decision. It is a straight commission for continuation. No pilot is needed.
On Standby is a ten-part, commercial half-hour series, meaning episodes are built to fill a 30-minute broadcast slot with adverts. Fisher co-created the show with Jonathan Gurfinkel, who directed Apple TV’s Unconditional. It is produced by Yoav Gross Productions, as reported by Deadline.
The story centres on Sagit. She is 33. She works as a selector at Ben Gurion Airport and lives with her father. Yes describes On Standby as an original comedy-drama in which Sagit must cope on her own for the first time, according to its programme page Yes.
The first season introduces her at work and at home. Airport security screening provides the day job. Family life provides the pressure to change.
Yes says the first run performed well on its main channel and its VoD player, its on-demand catch-up service, in Israel. No viewing figures were disclosed. No overnight ratings, consolidated ratings or hours-viewed totals were published with the renewal.
International buyers have already seen the title. Yes Studios, the sales arm, put On Standby in its debut London TV Screenings slate, the annual showcase where distributors present new programmes to channel and platform buyers, Deadline reported in February.
Yoav Gross Productions previously made Red Skies. The company looks after Fisher through its Gaga Management talent arm. It has also hired Ariel Weisbrod, an executive producer on We Will Dance Again, as content chief.
For viewers, this means Sagit’s story continues. A second season keeps a writers’ room open and a crew in work. Casting, episode count and transmission dates for the new run have not been disclosed.
