Silent Hill may be returning to cinemas, with Hollywood producer Roy Lee reportedly attached to a new film.

The claim comes from a Wall Street Journal profile of Lee, flagged by Video Games Chronicle. The report is just that. A report. No studio, director, cast or release date has been announced.

The profile describes Lee as having around 20 game-based films and television series in development or production. The list named in the profile includes God of War, Battlefield and Silent Hill. That is a slate, not a schedule. It does not say how far along any one project is.

Lee is best known to horror audiences for his work with writer-director Zach Cregger. He produced Cregger's Barbarian, Weapons and Resident Evil. Cregger directed the new Resident Evil film, which was explored in a Q&A published on the PlayStation Blog on 30 April 2026.

Those recent horror credits carry commercial weight. Resident Evil opened to $60 million at the box office, the best opening of Cregger's directing career, after taking $8 million in previews, according to Deadline. Weapons, his previous release, took $5.75 million in previews and $43.5 million in its opening. It went on to gross $268 million globally.

Silent Hill, Konami's long-running horror series about a fog-bound town that preys on its visitors, already has screen history. The reported Lee project is separate from Return to Silent Hill, which was released in January 2026 without Lee's involvement.

The games side remains active. Silent Hill producer Motoi Okamoto said Konami aims to release a new Silent Hill game every year, in comments reported by IGN in August 2026.

What makes this stand out is the pairing. Lee has specialised in commercial horror, and Silent Hill is built on slow dread rather than shocks. For fans, this means another adaptation is in the pipeline, but little else is known for now.
