Danny Boyle to record live Town podcast at London Film Festival Forum

Danny Boyle will be interviewed live on stage at the BFI London Film Festival for a taping of Matt Belloni’s The Town podcast.

The session with the Ink director is part of the full Industry Forum programme, the festival’s strand of talks and panels for people who make, sell and show films, revealed on 23 September, reported Variety. The BFI listing bills it as “Puck and The Town Present: Matt Belloni and Danny Boyle in Conversation” for Friday 9 October at Picturehouse Central, according to the BFI.

Costume designer PC Williams will also appear in conversation with Akinola Davies Jr., her collaborator on My Father’s Shadow, reported Variety. That pairing puts craft in the spotlight. It joins two producer Spotlights already announced for James Wilson and Pippa Harris.

The Forum opens on 8 October with a panel of cinema programmers. The line-up includes Ben Lyndon from Curzon, Carol McKay from Picturehouse and Madeleine Mullett from BFI Imax, reported Variety. Expect shop talk on booking, audiences and what gets screens.

International financing gets its own session on 12 October. Producers Ian Maher, Adrià Monés, Dyveke Bjørkly Graver and Rodrigo Teixeira will discuss co-productions, funding routes and the creative challenges of working across borders.

Other sessions look at archive and writing. Theo Rollason, Nanette Burstein, Rafael Guendelman and Simon McCallum from the BFI National Archive will discuss building stories from archive material. Take Three programme director Holly Daniel will host a session with new voices in screenwriting.

For anyone planning a trip, this year is the 70th edition of the festival. Special events run from 7 to 18 October, opening with the international premiere of Elsinore on 7 October and closing with the UK premiere of The Debut on 18 October, according to the BFI. A separate Screen Talks programme will feature Andrew Scott, Cynthia Erivo, Danny Boyle and Sofia Coppola, reported Screen Daily.
