Princess Astrid of Norway was buried at Ris Church in Oslo on 23 September 2026, twelve days after her death at the age of 94.

The Norwegian Royal House announced on 11 September that Princess Astrid, the sister of the late King Harald V of Norway, had died. She was 94. The funeral service was listed for 13:00 at Ris Church, the parish church in the west of the capital.

Crown Princess Ingrid Alexandra of Norway attended alongside her grandmother, Queen Sonja of Norway. The Crown Princess extended a comforting arm to the Queen as they arrived together, Hello! Magazine reported. They arrived together. Both wore mourning black without veils.

The Crown Princess wore a diamond heart pendant necklace. It was a Christening gift to her from Queen Sonja in 2004. Outside the church she also held the hand of her mother, Queen Mette-Marit of Norway.

The Royal Palace had said beforehand that King Haakon of Norway would attend with Queen Mette-Marit, Crown Princess Ingrid Alexandra and Queen Sonja, Hola reported. The service at Ris Church closed a month of mourning for the family.

Princess Astrid had attended her brother's state funeral, the full ceremonial funeral held for a head of state, in Oslo on 9 September. That was two days before her own death. King Harald had died peacefully at Oslo University Hospital Rikshospitalet on Friday 28 August at 6:35 AM, according to the Royal House notice, Norwegian Royal House.

What gives this sequence its weight is the timing. A sister present at her brother's farewell. Then, less than a fortnight later, the family gathered again in the same city to bury her.
