Colombian teenager Ivana signs to Farruko's Carbon Armor with October single

Ivana, a 19-year-old Latin urban pop singer from Barranquilla, Colombia, has signed to Farruko's record label Carbon Armor and to Massivo Entertainment for management.
Her first single under the deal, titled Que Novedad, is due on 1 October, Billboard reported on 23 September.
Carbon Armor will act as her label, the company that funds, releases and promotes her recordings. Massivo will act as her management company, the team that guides career decisions and co-ordinates daily business, from studio planning to the organisation of promotion. Both companies are led by chief executive Oscar Paniagua, which keeps recording and management decisions under one head.
Ivana is the first artist of any gender to sign to Carbon Armor. She is also the first woman to sign with Farruko. That gives her a distinct place on the books, as the opening signing rather than an addition to a long roster.
A new label has no back catalogue, the collection of older releases that can take up staff time and budgets. Its early work centres on its first artist. In practical terms, that means release dates, artwork, video shoots and playlist pitching all start with Ivana's music.
Massivo already works with Farruko, Guaynaa and Sebas Bárcenas. Farruko first noticed Ivana after coming across her profile on social media and following her. No further details of their early contact were disclosed.
Before this deal, Ivana had been releasing music independently. Her earlier songs include La Vacante (Remix) featuring Ken-Y, De Lejos and Aguardiente. Those tracks were put out before she joined Carbon Armor and Massivo, and they introduced her to listeners in Latin urban pop, the Spanish-language blend of reggaeton, trap and pop melodies.
Que Novedad will be her first release under the new arrangement. It is planned as a single, a one-song release rather than an album. No album title, track list or live dates have been announced.
What makes this stand out is the timing. A 19-year-old singer enters with label backing for the first time. For fans, this means the next test arrives quickly, with new music due on 1 October.
