Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War launch on Switch 2 on 30 September

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and Middle-earth: Shadow of War will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on 30 September 2026. The two games will arrive together as the Middle-earth: Shadow Bundle Eurogamer. Nintendo's US store already lists the bundle for the new console.

The Switch 2 release of Shadow of Mordor is the Game of the Year Edition, while Shadow of War is the Definitive Edition Nintendo Life. Those are the complete versions of each game. Both include all previously released DLC, the extra missions, outfits and expansions issued after the original launches Eurogamer.

The bundle is priced at £62.99 / US$70 and was available to pre-order at 50% off Eurogamer. That pre-order offer cut the price in half for early buyers. Nintendo also carries separate store listings for the Shadow Bundle and the Game of the Year Edition of Shadow of Mordor.

Both titles are open-world action games, built around exploration of a large map and real-time combat. They were developed by Monolith Productions IGN. Shadow of War continues the series with an original story featuring the return of Talion and Celebrimbor.

The Switch 2 versions are ports, where a studio adapts a game to run on different hardware, handled by Aspyr. Aspyr has confirmed more Lord of the Rings remasters are in the works following its War in the North re-release IGN. That earlier title, The Lord of the Rings: War in the North – Legacy Edition, has a release date of 18 August 2026 on Switch 2, with the digital version listed at £17.59 Nintendo.
