Diablo 4 on Switch 2: Release Date, Price and Physical Edition Leak Ahead of BlizzCon
Diablo 4 is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 on September 15, according to a leak from the deal-tracking insider billbil-kun. The port — Blizzard's action role-playing game, originally released on PC, PlayStation and Xbox in October 2023 — will launch as the "Age of Hatred Collection," bundling the base game with both of its expansions: Vessel of Hatred and Lord of Hatred. The price is set at US$69.99 / €69.99 / £62.99, Video Games Chronicle reports.
Pre-orders are expected to open on September 12, the same day BlizzCon 2026 begins. The leaker also suggested the port could be formally announced either at BlizzCon's opening day or at the Gamescom Opening Night Live presentation on August 25 — a stage Blizzard has used for the last three years running, having revealed Diablo 4's Season of Blood there in 2023, shown a Vessel of Hatred trailer in 2024, and unveiled World of Warcraft: Midnight in 2025.
For players who prefer physical media, the release comes with a catch. The boxed edition will contain a download code inside the case rather than a cartridge or Nintendo's Game-Key Card — a format that functions like a traditional cartridge but still requires a digital download. Vice noted that this detail may disappoint collectors who want a game they can hold, install, and resell without relying on a server-stored licence.
The Switch 2 version has been a long time coming. In April 2025, Diablo series head Rod Fergusson said there was no performance barrier to running the game on the handheld. The challenge, he explained, was making a live-service game — one sold and updated in seasons after launch, requiring a persistent online connection — work on a device often played away from Wi-Fi.
Earlier reports had already pointed to a September launch. On August 5, Video Games Chronicle wrote that the port was expected in September, citing claims of either September 15 or September 18. Polygon similarly reported a September window and suggested Gamescom would be a fitting venue for an announcement.
The latest leak, first published on Dealabs and corroborated by VGC on August 17, narrows the date to September 15 and adds the pricing, edition, and physical-format details. None of this has been confirmed by Blizzard or Nintendo. Everything rests on billbil-kun's sources, and the leaker's track record — accurate on previous release-date and retail listings — is why outlets are treating it as credible rather than idle rumour.
For Switch 2 owners, the Age of Hatred Collection would represent the most complete Diablo 4 package available at launch on any platform, arriving with both expansions included. Whether Blizzard confirms it at Gamescom on August 25 or holds the reveal for BlizzCon three weeks later, the September 15 date leaves little gap between announcement and release.
